Anne Hathaway's Catwoman walks into a crowded Dark Knight Rises | Film | The Guardian
Vulture caught up with The Dark Knight Rises screenwriter David Goyer at the premiere of the film, where he divulged a piece of trivia we. Batman manages to get away, as does Bane, having made the .. so he can go off to Europe and have a chemistry-free relationship with Selina Kyle, .. They're diversified — some is in the stock market, sure, but some is also. It played out more like a lovers quarrel then a robbery. She also didn't help Bane steal from the stock market. When Batman asks her what Bane.
But Batman was a vigilante. And Bruce Wayne was a damaged man who felt like a monster and so he acted like one. Playing this perverse part kept him trapped in a pit of anger and despair that he needed to escape.
Batman brought hope to corrupt Gotham — but Bruce degraded himself each time he put on the suit. Were you bugged by the fake-death chicanery? Very V for Vendettatoo. Nolan and his writers began setting up the idea that Batman is a transferable title in Batman Begins, when Bruce explained his theory that Batman should be a cultural symbol that transcended the man behind the mask. Rises paid it off nicely. Does this mean that Gordon-Levitt who was excellent is about to get his own Batman franchise?
Or might he rechristen himself Nightwing? Bane was just a jacked-up puppet, acting on orders from — and out of love for — Miranda Tate Marion Cotillarda.
The whiplash turn brought the saga full circle, and rightly brought the larger-than-life lout down to human-scale size — but too much so. And his death — he was blasted by Catwoman with a projectile from the Batpod — felt anti-climactic. However, a normal life with Batman is out of the question as long as he is fighting crime. Their relationship is also strained by the fact that they sometimes find themselves on opposite sides of the law.
Holly Robinson takes over as the new Catwoman while Selina, living under the alias Irena Dubrovna, turns her attention to caring for her daughter Selina's alias was inspired by the name of the main character in the film Cat People.
Though she takes her role as a new mother quite seriously, Selina dons the costume for a run through the East End some days after Helena's birth. Having understandably gained a few pounds, Selina finds that her costume is now a tighter fit.
In addition, she is easily distracted by a common criminal. Although the situation is defused through Holly's opportune arrival, the sight of two Catwomen active simultaneously in the city is caught on video. Selina returns home from her adventure to find that the mysterious movie aficionado Film Freak has deduced her alias, joined with Angle Manand grabbed Helena.
After rescuing her daughter, Selina convinces Zatanna to mind-wipe Film Freak and Angle Man whom she had bound and gagged with duct tape after beating them brutally in order to preserve her secret identity.
Following the procedure, Angle Man turns himself in to the authorities; Film Freak, however, embarks upon a murderous rampage. Ted Grant informs Selina that Holly has been arrested for the murder of Black Mask ; Selina infiltrates the police station and frees Holly.
Posing as a criminal, Selina gains the Bana's trust and thwarts a terror attack aimed at causing mass casualties in Gotham City. Selina questions whether she should be raising a daughter when her life as Catwoman has already proven to be such a danger to the child.
After enlisting Batman's help in faking the death of both herself and her daughter, Selina puts Helena up for adoption. A month after Helena is placed with a new family, Catwoman asks Zatanna to erase her memories of Helena and change her mind back to a criminal mentality. Zatanna refuses, judging for herself that such an act would be cruel to both mother and daughter.
Catwoman Is Not Catwoman in 'The Dark Knight Rises'
She tells Selina that she could never reverse Selina's mindset, since she was on the path to becoming a hero on her own. Believing she can no longer function as a criminal, Selina has since decided to become one of Batman's Outsiders. She quickly quit however and was replaced by Batgirl. While contemplating her loss, and her unexplained physical weakness despite being fully recovered from her physical heart trauma, she rescues two bystanders from a new supervillain-wannabe who calls himself Boneblaster. However, her physical weakness becomes obvious when she fails to fight Boneblaster effectively. Before Boneblaster can cause her permanent harm, she is rescued by the sudden appearance of Poison Ivy.
Concerned at how weak Catwoman had become, Ivy takes Selina to where she'd been staying, the home of the Riddler. Selina discovered that Ivy had apparently seduced and drugged the Riddler with her plant pheromones, keeping him in a vegetative state.
She also discovered that Ivy had similarly taken Harley Quinn into her new sanctuary. Selina then offered the idea that all three of them stay together to better survive in the new Gotham City.
Before accepting Selina's idea, Ivy secretly paid a visit to Zatanna through her plants, to find out if she had anything to do with Selina's weakness. Zatanna suggested that the weakness was likely psychological in nature. But before Ivy and Selina can discuss the matter any further, Boneblaster returns and tries to once more make a name for himself by attacking Ivy, Harley and Selina.
While Ivy and Harley distract him, Selina ends Boneblaster's threat by shorting out his gauntlets with a live electrical conduit, deducing that the villain had yet to get used to the technology, and had failed to properly insulate his gloves. As a result of the fight, Edward Nigma's apartment is wrecked.
Selina wearing her goggles sans the cowl Selina then obtains an abandoned animal shelter as their new home from a man calling himself The Broker.
Ivy and Harley move in, but before Ivy makes a final acceptance of Selina's offer, she surprises Selina and drugs her with truth serum-like spores. While Selina falls into a stupor, Ivy says that she wants total honesty between all of them if they are to trust one another.
She then asks Selina to reveal the identity of the original Batman. Selina, using a mental discipline taught to her by Talia al Ghul, avoids the interrogation and gives Ivy and Harley a fabricated story about there being multiple Batmen over the years, and that she's had a personal relationship with more than one of them. Ivy and Harley accept this answer for the moment, and Ivy tries to make amends by growing all manner of exotic fruits for Selina.
Meanwhile, Harley goes shopping. Knowing that the real Bruce is dead, and that the man with Harley is really Thomas Elliot HushSelina takes Ivy to the restaurant where the picture was taken. She is shocked to see a Harlequin doll at the table, its head stabbed through with a knife. Harley's phone is next to it.
Together Selina and Ivy manage to rescue Harley from Elliot, but not before having to deal with an old associate of the Joker's who is posing as Joker trying to kill Harley for taking his place. Together the girls manage to stop the faux Joker and move in together. Although Bruce is gone, Selina continues to keep close ties to his family, spending Christmas Eve with Dick Grayson and Alfred Pennyworth and to a lesser extent Damian. After he tells her that he plans on getting an emotional response before killing her, Selina steals a car and heads to the mental institution where Maggie Kyle is held, believing Black Mask is coming for her.
Black Mask attacks the institution, and somehow awakens Maggie from her coma. Selina arrives in time to help her sister flee into the sewers. While on the run, Maggie angrily tells Selina that she ruined both of their lives the day she decided to become Catwoman. Devastated by her sister's statement, Selina fails to realize they have both been heading for a trap.
Just as Black Mask is about to gouge Maggie's eyes out and shove them down Selina's throat, Harley and Ivy arrive and defeat the Black Lantern by trapping him in the stomach of a man-eating plant. Selina is helped to her feet by her friends, who tell her that Maggie has fled the scene. The next day, the staff members of the mental institution are shown discussing Maggie's escape, also mentioning that a nun that works at the hospital had been found beaten and stripped of her uniform.
Maggie is then shown in the depths of the Gotham City sewers clad in the bloodied nun robes, muttering about her plan to kill Catwoman in order to free Selina's soul. Now calling herself Sister Zero, Maggie attempts to kill Selina, but ultimately flees after being defeated by the Sirens.
She is last seen going over her options, now realizing that she cannot murder her own sister, and therefore must personally exorcise the "cat demon" from within Selina's body. While Esdese is unaware of this fact, Tatsumi tried a Love Redeems on Esdese more than once, trying to use her love for him to make her become good, but gave up quickly when he realized Esdese is completely insane and can't change.
The central romance in Cat's Eye is between Hitomi and Toshio. Although Toshio remaining unaware of it is a crucial part of their relationship. Dragon Ball Z does this twice, though both times the aftermath is shown rather than the circumstances of their falling in love.
The first to do this is Bulma, who, over the course of three years, has a relationship with former warrior prince and The Starscream to the previous Big BadVegeta. Interesting in that a time traveler who is actually Bulma and Vegeta's future son tells the hero this will happen before it does, which knocks him on his ass.
The second instance is Krillin, who falls in love with former troubled enemy Android After a time skip of seven years, it's shown that they got married and had a kid since she's technically a cyborg, not an android Judau displays some degree of concern for Haman, although how much of it was a romantic interest is open to debate. Judging by how the ladies get interested in him Causes less problems than most examples, since Hans is no mortal enemy, but a decent, friendly Worthy Opponent in a sports tournament.
Kaitou Saint Tail and Asuka Jr. Jeanne and Chiaki were justified in the manga: It turns out that the two are, in fact, Adam and Eve. Bizarre example in The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammerwhere the two people are technically on the same side at the present due to an Enemy Minebut nevertheless one wants to destroy the world and the other wants to save it.
If, at the very end, I win and stop the two of you [from destroying the world], would you go out with me? I'll think about it. By the end of the series, the relationship between the Lizard Knight and the Princess becomes something akin to this when he decides that he won't let her destroy the world because he loves her. She's actually happy that he's trying to stop her. They've been at odds with each other as often as they've met over candlelit dinners and, occasionally, the bedroom.
She knows he's liar and a cheathe knows she can't be trusted The whole premise of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. The Hero and the Demon Overlord both say Screw Destiny to their respective roles, hook up and try to find a way to end the war without gutting their respective war economies. During an SBS segment it's heavily implied that Viola had a sexual relationship with Doflamingo the same man who had her sister murdered, overthrew her fatherand forced her to work as an assassin in exchange for said father's life.
Ruby does eventually care for her in a platonic manner, but Courtney definitely feels something stronger for him. Heck, she even went so far as researching his background!
Though that did lead to her discovering information that made her realize all that his father sacrificed for his sake. There are hints that Hayato has some form of romantic attraction or at least deep respect for Keith Violet in Project ARMSalthough it seems to be mostly one-sided.
Keith Green also falls for Katsumi, although again it's one-sided she has no idea. She's oblivious about his real role in things, but he knows hers from the very start. This is largely the point of the romance between the primary Official Couple in Wedding Peachwho are directly inspired by Romeo and Juliet which would make them fit the Star-Crossed Lovers trope but luckily everything ends up ending well for them.
Sometimes happens to Minako Aino from Sailor Moon: Sailor V, the Big Bad and subordinate of Beryl's Dragon Kunzite Danburite is revealed to be her actual first great love Kaitou Ace who was in love with her since their previous lives and apparently joined the villains just to get killed by her so she would become strong enough to keep going on.
One episode of Super S has her getting crushes on two guys and trying to date the two Who are then revealed to be members of the Quirky Miniboss Squad of the season, and rather pissed at her for being two-timed. These two survive, however not for her lack of trying, they just manage to dodge her wrath long enough to teleport away.
For a while anyway.
Bane and Catwoman's relationship (Spoilers) | Nolan Fans Forums
Deconstructed in Space Patrol Luluco. Luluco's dad is a member of the Space Police. Her mom is a Space Pirate. While the two are legitimately in love, their marriage was extremely volatile, ended in divorce, and left their child a bit messed up.
Reconstructed with Luluco and Nova. It's still strong enough to redeem him with a Care-Bear Stare. In Special Duty Combat Unit ShinesmanMatsumoto, a young businessman who is secretly a superhero protecting the Earth, accidentally sees the bare skin of Princess Sheena, one of the villains from the Planet Voice who are trying to conquer the Earth.
Due to the rule of Planet Voice that whoever sees bareskin of the royalty must either die or marry the royalty, Matsumoto and Sheena start dating, unaware of each other's secret identity. Sasaki definitely embraces the 'kill him' option until the very end of the manga, when he tells Matsumoto he's changed his mind.
They end up marrying and, in the Macross continuity, go on to have multiple children before becoming the two main leaders of the Macross 7 fleet. In Robotech, they have a child, Dana, who goes on to pull something of the same thing with the Robotech Master ace pilot Zor Prime a clone of the original superintellect Zor. Superior has this as its premise. It opens with the Demon Queen, Sheila, falling in love with the hero sent to vanquish her, Exa. She conceals her true identity - although he suspects, he cannot bring himself to confront her and doesn't want to believe it.
The usual tone is subverted in Tokyo Mew Mewwhere the romantic hero and villain are There also is a one-sided romance between Quiche and Ichigo, with the former being madly in love with the latter.
His love gets creepier as the show goes on Ichigo is genuinely upset by his death. He gets better, though. They loved each other. However he did not think they could be together again after what the Vegans had done to his homeworld.
The Earth-2 versions of the characters actually married and had a kid, the original Huntress. Why bother stealing when you're married to a multimillionaire? The main versions became a couple too, and Bruce even revealed his identity to her and she moved into the mansion with him.
The relationship didn't last, but they both developed a respect for each other and Batman mostly looks the other way when Catwoman does her thing. However, things got a bit more interesting with the two. Continuing to dance around one another constantly to the point of a nearly functional relationship, then to a distant one due to fear of repercussions from their knowledge of one another's identity, the couple have certainly reheated things a bit since Bruce's return to the present Regardless, she has even accompanied him on his international travels to establish Batman Inc.
But all that Character Development in their relationship has been set back to square one with the DC Universe rebootin which Catwoman has no idea who Batman is behind the mask although she suspects he knows who she is. Doesn't stop her from having costumed sex with him though. And then in DC Rebirth not only does he reveal his identity to her again, he proposes.
It remains to be seen how this plays out, though. Funnily enough, the whole 'dating Catwoman' trait stems from the fact that Batman himself has a weakness for villainesseswhich he acknowledged in Batman R. His relationship with Talia al Ghul in the main continuity where they have a son together is similar with his relationship with Catwoman.
In Gotham City Sirensit was mentioned that Catwoman and Talia are probably the only two women Batman has truly loved.
It's not surprising that both of them are villainesses. Very explicit in one standalone strip called "Date Night"; Batman catches Catwoman in the middle of a robbery and chases her through various romantic locations including a flower stall and a fancy restaurant, all the while Catwoman is talking and flirting with him as if they were actually on a date. When he finally catches her, they briefly fight and she leaves him tied up and dangling upside down from a fire escape, kisses him goodnight and runs away.
In Batman the Dark Knight after the reboot, Bruce is attracted to Jaina Hudson, but becomes suspicious of her after new villainess White Rabbit issues the same "Catch me if you can" flirtatious challenge Jaina made in their first meeting. His suspicions are debunked when the White Rabbit shows up on the radar while he is on a date with Jaina. It turns out he was right after all, since Jaina has the power to split herself into two people — her normal self and the White Rabbit.
Depending on the WriterPoison Ivy may have a downplayed, one-sided version of this; she is sometimes portrayed as attracted to Batman, viewing him as either a worthy rival, the only "good" man she knows, or both, but Batman does not reciprocate the attraction.
The two work together to take down a shady auction, with Selina treating it as a date.
